Carmel started singing soon after walking, in Goulburn, then spent her formative years at the piano, later winning a number of Eisteddfods for both singing and tinkling the ivories. She and her sister then became a Beatles-loving harmonising duo, in-demand at local functions.
After years of sailing and world travel, Carmel discovered the joys of group singing upon the pre-destined meeting with wonderful new friends in Maleny, in 1995.
Since then, she has been passionately involved as a founding member, singing her soul in such harmony groups as : WORK-IN-PROGRESS (folk) / FINE COTTON (folk) / RAW SILK (folk) / The Just Desserts (folk-pop) / Serafina (world) / Swing-Jazz Trio (jazz) / Waroo Choir (world) / Andy Oxidant and the Free Radical Gospeleers (gospel) and playing in the humarimba band, MamaMarimba.
Carmel, with her husband Ridley, also looks after injured and orphaned native animals.
